Essex Gateway Trail

   

Description:  Check out this 2.3-mile out-and-back trail near Essex, New York. Generally considered an easy route, it takes an average of 45 min to complete. The trail passes through forest, pasture, and open farmland until its terminus at Blockhouse Road. Much of the trail passes through Essex Farm, which is a busy place with cattle, sheep, pigs, and all forms of cultivation. It is possible to walk along Blockhouse Road, a scenic gravel road back toward Rte. 22, and then back into the village for a three-mile loop walk.

From Essex Ferry Parking area, go north on sidewalk along Essex Road 0.2 miles to enter through a fence to forest trail.
