This scenic 4.5-mile trail provides beautiful views of Long Pond as it passes by some giant old trees. The hike begins at 9:30 am and concludes around 12:30 pm. The trail is mostly flat, with a few slight inclines as it follows a woods road and passes by a “drowned forest” wetland on its way to Long Pond’s western shore. There it continues on a sometimes rocky path along a small rise above the pond to a loop that brings you back to the lakeside trail leading to the trailhead.
Please wear appropriate footwear for safety, as some areas have rocky and rooty surfaces.
DIRECTIONS: We will meet at the Long Pond trailhead, .7 miles down Carver Road from Rte. 22. The turn-off for Carver Road is five miles north of Willsboro, NY, or three miles south of the Northway on Rte. 22. Parking will be in the small lot or along the roadside
