Celebrate the shortest day of the year and the first official day of winter with a self-guided walk (or snowshoe, weather permitting) and a bonfire.
Winter fun for all ages! We welcome you to Twin Valleys Outdoor Education Center to enjoy a special luminaria walk through our trails. We will have a bonfire to warm up around and roast marshmallows. This is family-friendly, and well-lit, with shorter trails and rewarding views of the pond and winter woods.
DIRECTIONS: Twin Valleys is located about 40 miles south of the SUNY Plattsburgh campus between Lewis and Westport, N.Y. Take I-87 to 95 Twin Valley Lane, Westport, N.Y. 12993. Click here for Google Maps directions.
TIMING: Trails will be lit from 4 pm until 8 pm. People are welcome to come by anytime for those four hours to snowshoe or walk and enjoy the luminaria experience.
REGISTRATION: Please register by 6:00 p.m. the day before the event by emailing torey@champlainareatrails.com, but it's also okay to meet us there on Saturday evening. Please fill out waivers before getting on the trail. Click here to fill out our waiver.
We recommend dressing for a winter hike. It will be chilly! Coats, hats, and mittens or gloves are a must. Get ready for an unforgettable experience!
