Enjoy this 3-mile out-and-back trail near Essex, New York. Generally considered an easy route, we will walk the trail as we lop and clean up the trail along the way. This is an easy hike along an abandoned road. The route begins at the top of a deep gorge, with the Boquet River below, passing through forests, pastures, and a collapsing barn. This is a lovely way to spend a December morning.
WHAT TO BRING: We will work with loppers, hand saws, and string trimmers, which Champlain Area Trails can provide. Feel free to bring your tools as well. Make sure to bring gloves, protective eye gear (if using a string trimmer), water, and some snacks! Dress in good layers for winter hiking.
