Join us in our new First Friday Bird Walks series with Point Au Roche State Park from 9 am to 10:30 am.
Kristin Collins, the environment educator at Point Au Roche State Park Nature Center, and Torey Patenaude, the Community Engagement and Outreach Manager for Champlain Area Trails, will lead this fairly easy walk. They are not birding experts but rather nature lovers with some birding background.
Located on the northwestern shore of Lake Champlain, Point Au Roche State Park hosts a mixture of forested and open areas. We will walk a few miles on the trails looking for birds that overwinter here. The trails offer lovely views of Lake Champlain as well as wintry woods. It should be a fantastic morning!
NEED TO KNOW: This is a winter morning walk in February, so dress warmly. A heavy coat, mittens or gloves, and a hat are critical. BYOB (bring your own binoculars)- though the nature center will have a few pairs to lend out if needed.
DIRECTIONS: Point Au Roche State Park is at 19 Camp Red Cloud Rd, Plattsburgh, NY 12901.
