Winter Solstice Luminaria Walk @ Essex Quarry

Join us for a luminaria walk at Essex Quarry on the winter solstice on thursday, december 21st between 4 PM and 8 PM.

Celebrate the shortest day of the year and the first official day of winter with a self-guided walk (or snowshoe, weather permitting).

Winter fun for all ages! We welcome you to Essex Quarry Nature Preserve to enjoy a special luminaria walk through our trails. This is family-friendly, and well-lit, with shorter trails and rewarding views of the pond at Essex Quarry and winter woods.

We recommend dressing for a winter hike. It will be chilly! Coats, hats, and mittens or gloves are a must.  Get ready for an unforgettable experience!

We will also have a drop box for our snowshoe drive at the event. Please consider donating gently used snowshoes as we continue to expand our winter programming and get more people on the trails.

We offer our outdoor educational programs for free, thanks to our generous donors. Your support is crucial for us to continue providing these programs in the future. We would be grateful for your donation today!
