Ancient Oak and Omkring Sumpen Trails

   

Description: Experience the magic of the Ancient Oak Trail. This 2.5-mile out-and-back trail is near Willsboro, New York. Generally considered an easy route, it takes an average of 46 min to complete. This trail takes hikers through a small patch of forest, then through a picturesque field along wetlands and a small pond. Enter into a diverse forest with several ancient oak trees and unexpected rock outcrops. 

   

Omkring Sumpen Trail - Norwegian for "Around the Swamp", this trail splits off of the Ancient Oak trail, traveling through a mature forest of hickories, oaks, and white pines. About 3/4 a mile in length, this trail regions the Ancient Oak near a large field.

Find the trailhead on Rt 22 (Essex Rd) 2.2 mi north of Essex Ferry.
