Martha Smiles has been a dedicated member of the CATS Board of Directors since 2019, actively contributing to the fundraising and conservation & trails committees. Residing in Essex, NY, and South Burlington, VT, she shares her life with her husband, Mike, and their beloved Tibetan Terrier, Poppy, who is affectionately known as "Poppy – No!" Poppy proudly serves as one of the canine ambassadors for the North Boquet Mountain Trail.

  

Martha is passionate about the incredible network of CATS trails and often says, “Every time I hike a CATS trail, I declare it my favorite. They’re all different and wonderful in their own way, especially with the changing seasons. We are truly fortunate to have access to such fantastic trails for everyone to explore. I have many happy memories of wandering through forests and fields, and, as happens in spring, navigating a bit of mud with family and friends.”
